Sabinabanu Shaikh

Sabinabanu Shaikh (2002) is a single-parent child. She lives in Mumbai with her mother and elder brother. Sabina’s mother had married the person of her choice and hence was driven out of home and lost all the possible support from her family members. Sabina’s father turned out to be alcoholic and passed away when the kids were very young. After his death, her mother started working for Akanksha Foundation as a helper. However, nearly half of the meagre income has to go for rent. Her mother has always been very supportive and feels education is crucial to give her daughter a chance for a better future and make her feel more confident and independent. In 2013, Sabina joined Happy Kids Program and completed her schooling from Sweet Memories High School in Panchgani. Currently, she is pursuing commerce from a college in Mumbai.

Sabina is quiet, caring and particularly enjoys art and craft classes. Her mother also reckons she has become more responsible and that her communication skills have improved.
